I just returned from a retreat with Salem Stitches.  It was my first quilting retreat ever and it was absolutely amazing.  Kathleen is incredibly organized and provided an incredible weekend of learning, fun and friendship.    Kathleen is so friendly and accommodating.  The teachers were knowledgeable and approachable.  The facility was great.  

I had such a wonderful time, I plan to attend another retreat in December!  

This was my first retreat with Salem stitches, and it did not disappoint. The projects were beautiful, the food was delicious and accommodations very comfortable. Best of all was the wonderful company of fellow stitchers.  Everyone was so kind and helpful. A special bonus was meeting Miranda Weeks. Thanks for a  fabulous weekend.

After breakfast, our first hands on workshop will begin... &nbsp;Creative Label Making!Spend a day with Swan and learn a variety of label making methods, using applique, Inktense, archival markers, and more!&nbsp;&nbsp;You will take home loads of information on how to make your own label a special work of art to accent your quilt, as well as the specific details every quilt label should have.&nbsp;&nbsp;Enjoy the full day of creative inspiration and leave with finished labels and ideas for more! Workshop Friday 

Saturday's all day workshop features a chance to use ALL the decorative stitches on your sewing machine to create a&nbsp;pillow or small wall hanging. Swan guides you through her easy applique technique with stitching embellishment.Decorative Stitches are for Everyone:Join Swan to learn the ins and outs of basic fusing techniques and the best ways to take advantage of all the decorative stitching options on your machine!&nbsp; With this beautiful floral project, we'll explore thread choice, stitch stacking and alignment, the use of stitch libraries, mirroring, and the best order in which to work.&nbsp;&nbsp;You’ll learn to enjoy all that your machine has to offer and see just how pretty your threads can be when you use all of your stitches on your fused projects.&nbsp; Don't miss your chance to play with a variety of threads and stitches! Workshop Saturday

Finish your projects on Sunday... who wants a UFO to bring home! Swan will be around for questions. Late morning brunch is the perfect time to spend a few minutes socializing...it's been a blast. &nbsp;We look forward to seeing you at our next retreat. &nbsp; We are planning to have an optional morning Organic Machine Quilting class for those interested. Welcome Thursday

We will start the day with a delicious breakfast buffet, followed by announcements in the sewing room at 9 am. Kate's known for her patchwork braids and great sense of color. On Friday morning you'll learn her easy technique to add braids to lots of projects. Plus Kate will talk color selection for all your quilting projects.After lunch, we'll be making "Pack It Up!", a medium zippered bag with a braid as a focus. Fabrics will be from her newly released 2026 fabric line, Spring Fling by Island Batik. Multiple colorways available.

July 31st

Saturday's all day workshop features a pieced quilt project you will love. The quilt project is a NEW one "In Motion" using Kate's fabric collection "Spring Fling" from Island Batiks that ships in late Spring of 2026.&nbsp; Attendees will receive bonus instructions on using the pattern to make a large pillow, wall hanging, throw or larger quilt. Plus Kate will demo how to shift the blocks to create different looks to the pattern. No running around to find supplies and fabrics! Fabric kits will be available for pre-order. August 1st

If you cancel more than 120 days prior to the retreat, all monies paid, less deposit &amp; processing fee &nbsp;will be &nbsp;transferred to another retreat or refunded to original payment source. More than 30 days prior, all monies not committed to vendors will be transferred to another retreat or refunded. &nbsp;30 days or less before the retreat, refunds simply cannot be made. At any time, your payments may be transferred to a new attendee coming in your place. You have a personal "Dashboard" which &nbsp;allows you to keep your information, such as contact info and food allergies, current!&nbsp; Please save your initial confirmation email, the included link is the easiest way to connect to your dashboard.

Retreat includes ALL Stitching &amp; Finishing kits, most designed just for this retreat, including special, limited edition charts for attendees. Of course, you will be able to select the stitch count of your fabric! There is even a Zoom session in August to get you started with the pre stitch kits when they arrive in mid- summer.We include meals and stitching goodies you will love for a "do not want to miss this" event.
